news - recycling program starts Morgan
County Professional Firefighters Union, Local 4555, has started a
recycling program at fire station 31 and 32 located at 10023 N.
Kitchen Road and 7047 E. Landersdale Road, respectively.
Along with Abitibi Recycling, secretary treasurer
Juan Alcala of the Local 4555, has managed to get green recycling
bins placed at each station free of charge to the township or the
local. Monies raised from the recycling will benefit both
North Madison Elementary School and the Local 4555.
"Since moving here to Madison Township, I noticed
there was not a recycling program available to the public." Alcala
said. Alcala stated that he wanted to try to do something to
give back to the community. After meeting with Larry
Schneider, Principal of North Madison Elementary, it was best
determined that the funds from the recycling will benefit the new
play ground equipment for the school. "The play ground has to
be moved to make room for the new satellite buildings the school
must use." Schneider commented. Currently
the recycling bins are accepting any paper product with the
exception to cardboard. No plastic or glass is accepted.
It takes about 8 tons, or 3 to 4 fills of the bin, to make $160.00.
